CT GAY TOURISM INITIATIVE LAUNCHED

Advertorial

pink_passport_gay_tourism_campaign_launchedThe recently launched Pink Summer Passport campaign is aiming to boost gay tourism in the Mother City.

The brainchild of Grant Eglin from Beefcakes and Ian McMahon from MCQP and Crew, the campaign will promote pink-interest events in cape Town over the holiday season to the LGBT community.

These include theatre shows, a picnic in the park with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, a charity dinner and various parties – all events where gays and lesbians can get together, mingle in a fun environment and build a sense of community.

The events will be promoted both on the Pink Summer website as well in 10,000 booklets that will be distributed in Cape Town and Joburg.

Eglin told Mambaonline that the campaign targets both the Cape Town LGBT community as well as local and international LGBT tourists.

“We are taking the long-term approach on gay tourism for Cape Town,” he said. “We believe that Cape Town, and South Africa, can become a leader in LGBT tourism.”

Eglin added: “We have strong gay rights, excellent hospitality, scenery, a competitive exchange rate and a flourishing gay village with specific LGBT events”.

He said that if the campaign is well-supported he and McMahon will look at producing Pink Autumn, Winter and Spring editions.
