GAY PORN ICON CONVICTED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

Nineties gay porn icon Ryan Idol – real name Marc Anthony Donais – has been convicted of attempted murder following an altercation with his ex-girlfriend in September 2009.

Donais (45) was found guilty by a Sacramento Superior Court this week of smashing a porcelain toilet tank lid over the head of the un-named 41-year-old woman.

According to reports, after the woman had broken up with Donais and moved out of his apartment, he visited her at her home. During the visit he hit the woman with the toilet tank lid in the bathroom.

Donais claimed that he attacked her in self-defence as he thought she had pulled a knife on him.

The one-time adult film star is being held without bail and is expected to be sentenced in December.

Donais began his x-rated career when he posed for Playgirl magazine in 1989 and then went on to appear in a number of porn films.

More recently he has attempted to make a name for himself as a mainstream actor and in 2007 appeared in the Broadway production of Terrence McNally’s The Ritz.

When it comes to his sexuality, Donais has said: “I don’t like to label myself….I’d just like to say I’m a loving person. I can love a man and I can love a woman.”
