‘HOMOSEXUALITY A BIGGER THREAT THAN TERRORISM’

Sally Kern, an Oklahoma state legislator, has defended her stance that homosexuality is more dangerous to the United States than terrorism.

Kern, who is publicising her book, The Stoning of Sally Kern: The Liberal Attack on Christian Conservatism and Why We Must Take a Stand, reiterated her views on the issue in a video interview with Peter LaBarbera, president of the anti-gay group Americans for Truth about Homosexuality.

“If you just look at it in practical terms, which has destroyed and ended the life of more people? Terrorism attacks here in America or HIV/AIDS? In the last 20 years, 15 to 20 years, we’ve had maybe three terrorist attacks on our soil with a little over 5,000 people regrettably losing their lives,” she said.

“In the same time frame, there have been hundreds of thousands who have died because of having AIDS. So which one’s the biggest threat?”

Kern (64) went on to say: “I think that it’s also more dangerous because it will tear down the moral fiber of this nation. We were founded as a nation upon the principles of religion and morality, if we take those out from under our society we will lose what has made us a great nation, we will no longer be a virtuous people, which we see happening already.”

Kern first made headlines in March 2008 when she was recorded in a meeting saying that homosexuality is “the death knell of this country”, that it is the biggest threat to the US, and that homosexuals “are going after, in schools, two-year olds…”

She refused to apologise for the remarks and was widely derided after television talk show host Ellen DeGeneres tried to contact her telephonically during her show.
