GAY BISHOP NEEDS BULLETPROOF VEST

Advertorial

The controversial gay bishop whose 2003 ordination led to the schism within the Anglican Church has admitted that he fears for his safety.

He said that has been forced to wear a bullet proof vest and is accompanied by a bodyguard.

Bishop Gene Robinson from New Hampshire, who married his male partner last month, made the startling revelation at a speech at Kent University.

“It’s an exciting time to be alive. There are live issues floating around the Church to do with civil rights, but I think God’s heart would break to see people marginalised,” he said.

Robinson was the first Anglican clergyman to ever be barred from attending the Church’s international Lambeth Conference this month, which only takes place every ten years.

Speaking of his exclusion he said: “I think Jesus might find himself on the fringe like me, and not inside the big top with the so-called powers that be!”

A question and answer session after the address was cut short by a fire alarm in the building.
