CALL TO PROTEST GOLDIN MURDER

Advertorial

Samantha Goldin, the sister of gay murdered actor Brett Goldin, has called on supporters to protest outside the courts at the start of his alleged murderers’ trial in two week’s time.

Brett Goldin and his fashion designer friend Richard Bloom were brutally murdered in Cape Town on 16 April 2006. Clinton Davids, 22, and Shavaan Marlie, 25, will stand trial for the murder of Goldin and Bloom next month. They also face two charges of aggravated armed robbery and two of kidnapping. The court date was set last year to allow for the completion of the investigation – including the results of DNA tests.

The protest organisers say that “South Africa is under siege by a violent criminal element and we’ve been robbed of too many valued and talented people like Brett and Richard.”

They have called on people to express their outrage at the level of crime in the country and show support for the family by joining together outside the High Court in Cape Town on Monday 5 March 2007.

The organisers say that they are willing to make block booking flight reservations on behalf of those outside of Cape Town.

T-shirts supporting the cause will be available for sale – at cost price – on the day. The organisers insist that any banners bought to the courthouse must not contain any anti-government, religious, or discriminatory slogans
