Watch: Trans protesters confront Caitlyn Jenner

caitlyn_jenner_confronted_by_trans_activistsTransgender reality star Caitlyn Jenner faced angry protesters who called her an “insult” to trans people.

Jenner was leaving an LGBTI charity event in Chicago on Thursday when she was confronted by around three activists, reported Daily Mail.

Under the banner of “I Ain’t Cait”, they argued that her privileged experience does not represent the reality of most trans women.

Using a loud-hailer, an activist shouted out: “You do not represent us! You are an insult to trans people, you are an insult to women.”

She continued: “The $500 you spend at a luncheon is more than most black trans women are able to earn in a month.”

Jenner is seen briefly talking to the protesters before walking away from the heated demonstration.

On a Facebook page, which now appears to have been shut down, the group described the Olympic champion as “a clueless rich white woman who thinks disenfranchised trans women of colour should just pluck themselves up off the street and stop being so lazy.”

Jenner has been criticised for her conservative Republican views, some of which she says have changed since her transition.

In an episode of her I Am Cait show Jenner spoke about people who use social services and grants: “You don’t want people to get totally dependent on it. That’s when they get into trouble. ‘Why should I work? You know, I’ve got a few bucks, I’ve got my room paid for.’”

Activist Monica James told the Chicago Tribune: “She can’t speak to those struggles. It defaces the real truth behind transitioning.”
